Marion Jordan Cockey [of Suffolk], 89, died Dec. 12, 2003, at Obici Hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1914, in Sunbury, Gates County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Alexander and Dora Norfleet Cross Jordan and widow of John Sothoron Cockey. Marion was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the J. Lewis Rawls Sunday school class, Westover Garden Club, Jamestown Society and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Blackstone College and attended the University of Tampa. She moved to Washington, D.C. to attend art school, where she met her loving husband of 60 years. Together they traveled to Hawaii, Europe and many Redskin and University of Maryland sporting events. Marion is survived by her loving children, John Sothoron Cockey Jr. of Virginia Beach and Marion Cockey of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Cockey, Lydia Cockey Kingsbury and husband Troy and Suzanne Cockey O'Neil and husband Abby; great-grandson, Maximillian Sothoron O'Neil; and loving sister and brother-in-law, Mary Cross Jordan and James G. Brockenbrough. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Robert J. Parks Jr. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. HAMPSHIRE, March 26 - Mrs. Martha Hunter Patterson Brown, 86, wife of William R. Brown and a resident of Taylor Store Road in the Hampshire Community, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
- Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Joe Macer officiating. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
- The Little Lot, Tennessee native was the daughter of the late Henry Sothoron Hunter and Alice Meacham Cummins. She was an accounting clerk for National Life and Accident Insurance Company from 1936-1951 and the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1951-1979. She was a member of the South Point Church of Christ.
- In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William S. Patterson of Oakley, Calif.; two grandchildren, William S. Patterson, Ill. of Oakley, Calif., and Rebecca L. Patterson of Meridian, Id.; three step sons, William Brown, Jr. of Knoxville, Walker Brown of Hickory, N.C., and Bobby Brown of Brentwood; two step daughters, Nancy Brown Richardson of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mary Ann Brown Peugeot of Nashville; six step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
- Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the South Point Church of Christ.
