Dr. William Henry Locke was born near Charlotte Hall, St. Mary's Co., MD on March 19, 1819, being the son of Dr. William Bruce Locke (1785-1834) and Mary Smith, daughter of Charles Somerset Smith.
The writer was unable to determine where and when Dr. William Henry Locke received his medical degree, probably like his father at the University of Pennsylvania.
In St. Mary's Co., Dr. Locke received a marriage license on April 6, 1852 to marry Rebecca Perry. She is listed in the 1850 Census of St. Mary's Co. as living in the home of Benjamin and Sarah Adams of Charlotte Hall.
The doctor and Rebecca had no children.
Rebecca was buried at All Faith Episcopal Church, nearby on September 10, 1863, age 48.

Dr. William Henry Locke died in May 1874, age 56 years. The grave registration cards at St. Mary's Co. Historical Society informs us that a grave stone in All Faith Episcopal Cemetery has a plaque which reads: "W. H. Locke, M.D. was buried in Congressional Cemetery (Washington, DC)."
