Death Comes to Baptist Minister at Morganfield
FORMERLY OF THIS COUNTY
- The Rev. B. J. Davis, for many years pastor of the Clayvillage and Bagdad Baptist Churches in this county, died Tuesday night at his home in Morganfield, after a brief illness. No particulars of his death were contained in the message received by friends here.
- Mr. Davis was a graduate of the Southern Theological Seminary and was widely known in this county. For a number of years he was pastor at Bagdad and Clayvillage, and was also in charge of the Little Mount Church. He served as Moderator of the Shelby County Baptist Association and was a preacher of ability and power. About three years ago he removed to Lexington and preached for several churches near the Fayette County capital. Nine months ago he accepted a call to the church at Morganfield, where he was meeting with marked success.
- Mr. Davis is survived by his widow and several sons. He was fifty five (sic) years of age.
- The body will be brought to his former home at Bagdad for burial. The funeral services will be conducted at the Baptist Church there tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock by Dr. Porter, of Lexington. (www.findagrave.com* - Shelby[KY] News, Reported 12 Dec 1912)
