Daniel Jerome Murphy died 21 May 2014. "Jerry was a graduate of the Naval Academy and was in the same 1946 three year class as President Carter. During the Korean War, Jerry's ship was fired upon by a North Korean shore battery. Jerry suffered serious wounds in the attack and later received a Purple Heart. At the time of his death, he resided at Kendall at Oberlin in Ohio." He was cremated. (Coughlin*)
