Enoch Haddox, born in 1784, and Sarah Minear, born in 1790, were married in Virginia in 1807. (Ancestry.com* - U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900)

- In Chancery Court of Fauquier County Charles L. Carter, executor of John F. Carter, dec'd., filed against John Evans on 7 Nov 1818. Carter purchased two mares from Evans on 24 April 1817 for $280. Carter claimed that Evans attested to their soundness & expressed a warranty, but indeed they were "winded" and unable to work effectively. Prayed for return of bond.
- Enoch Haddox, 35 years of age, was deposed at the Mill of John Newman in Frederick Co., VAon 19 April 1819. He stated that he had worked with subject horses for about 9 months while they were still owned by Evans, and that they were sound and not winded.
- Several others attested similarly & the case was dismissed in Dec 1820. (Chancery Court Records, Fauquier Co., VA - LVA Index No. 1820-011) His signature appears on the deposition:
