- William Carter Dulin, 80, an economics teacher and businessman who retired from the faculty of Johns Hopkins University in 1988, died of congestive heart failure and complications of prostate cancer Aug. 7 at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
- Dr. Dulin also was a musician who had served as summer substitute organist and choirmaster at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Washington and All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase. During 40 Christmas seasons, he led the "Grove Street Carolers" in holiday serenades in his Chevy Chase neighborhood, and he conducted semimonthly sing-alongs at the Lisner-Louise Home in Washington.
- A fourth generation Washingtonian, he graduated from McKinley Tech High School and Western Reserve University. He received a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University and a doctorate in business administration from American University.
- During World War II, he worked with the War Production Board, then served in the Army Air Forces. From 1946 to 1954, he was special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for supply and logistics.
- After leaving the Pentagon, Dr. Dulin taught macroeconomics, microeconomics and business policy at American University, and he was an assistant dean at Southeastern University. During that period, he also was special assistant to the vice president for management at Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Washington.
- In 1966, he joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins and remained there until retiring. He also served as consultant to the Hoover Commission and as assistant to the public printer of the United States.
- In the late 1980s, Dr. Dulin spent three years researching and restoring the Old Family Cemetery near Charlotte Hall in St. Mary's County, locating the burial sites of two Revolutionary War officers.
- He had served on the board of the Planned Giving Committee and the Friends of Music at Washington National Cathedral. In 1994, he and his wife were featured on the cover of Cathedral Age, the cathedral's quarterly magazine.
- He was a past president of the D.C. Amateur Athletic Union and a member of the International AAU weightlifting committee, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Kenwood Country Club.
- Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Maurine Stuart Dulin of Chevy Chase; three children, Jacquelyn Dulin Wilson of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Patricia F. Dulin of Washington and Dr. Stuart M. Dulin of Rockville; and four grandchildren. (The Washington Post, Metro Section, Published 10 Aug 1995)

Ceremony Performed Last Evening At St. Paul's
- CHRYSANTHEMUMS in autumn shades were massed in St. Paul's Episcopal Church last night for the wedding of Miss Phyllis Maurine Stuart and William Carter Dulin. The bride is the daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Frank Meagher Stuart and Mr. Dulin is the son of Mrs. Blanche S. Dulin and the late Edward M. Dulin.
- The Rev. Franklin J. Bonahan officiated at the ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Stuart home. The bride wore imported Chantilly lace, egg-shell in shade, over slipper satin. Her full-length veil of illusion fell from a coronet of seed pearls and sequins and she carried a shower of gardenias and valley lilies with a center of white orchids.
- MRS. J. WOODROW THOMAS was matron of honor, dressed in faille in a dawn-pink shade with a Juliet cap edged with a maline ruffle. She carried dahlias in a deeper shade of pink.
- The bridesmaids were the Misses Frances Eels, Mildred Heinsmann and Jean Warren, of Washington, and Evelyn Robinson, of Baltimore. They were dressed in mist blue and Juliet caps and carried bronze dahlias.
- John D. Dulin was best man for his brother and the ushers were another brother, E. Milton Dulin, of Baltimore, and James C. Haynes, Adrian Smith and A. William Tate, all of Washington.
- The bride's mother wore a frock of currant red silk crepe with an ostrich trimmed toque and a corsage of orchids. Mrs. Dulin senior also wore orchids with her royal blue lace gown.
- AFTER A honeymoon at a Southern seside resort the couple will live at 4500 Chase avenue, Bethesda, where they will be at home after November 15. As her going away costume the bride chose a moss green costume suit trimmed in leopard with black accessories.
- The bride, who is a great-grandniece of Gen. J.E.B. Stuart, was graduated from the College of William and Mary and belongs to Pi Beta Phi. Her husband is an alumnus of Western Reserve University and received his master's degree from Harvard. He belongs to Phi Kappa Phi fraternity and is a descendant of Francis Scott Key and Jefferson Davis. (The Washington Post :S7, Published 6 Oct 1940)
