Leondis Adkins, Retired Ford inspector
Leondis Adkins, 78, Brookville Road, Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Pulaski County, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 31, 1928, in Somerset, he was the son of the late Furman and Mattie Phelps Adkins. He was a retired inspector for Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Burge Terrace Baptist Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Fultz Adkins, whom he married June 5, 1955; two children, Jean Shields and Leonard (and Hazel) Adkins, both of Indianapolis; and a sister, Lexie (and L.B.) Ridener, Brownsburg, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lewis, Lloyd, Luther and Lonzo; and three sisters, Lena Inabnitt, Lema Shepherd and LouEmma Cook.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Thickett Cemetery in Somerset with Bro. Gary Cook officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday at the chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
