- Sothoron Waited Long to Have Marital Bonds Severed–Divorce Record.
- Two absolute divorces were granted and one application for an absolute divorce was filed in the District divorce courts yesterday. Chief Justice Clabaugh signed a decree in favor of J. Thomas Sothoron against Irene M. Sothoron, on the ground of desertion. Sothoron began suit ten years ago, when desertion was a cause for an absolute divorce in the District. - ALLENHURST, N. J., June 3 -- Irene Bentley, singer, acress and musical comedy star, who was well known in London and New York at the turn of the century, died at her home here today. Her age was 70. She came here six months ago from her home at 319 West 107th Street, New York.
- She was the widow of Harry Bach Smith, who died on New Years's Day in 1936. He wrote the lyrics for much of Victor Herbert's music, as well as the score for the first Ziegfield Follies and for Robin Hood, in which Reginald DeKoven starred.
- Mrs. Smith, who was born in Baltimore, the daughter of William H. and Alexina Mabee Bentley, made her first appearance on the stage at Palmer's Theatre in New York in April, 1895, in "Little Christopher," and speedily becaome a popular success. (Additional credits not copied)

M. Evora Neff, 77, of 511 Southbrooke, died at 5:30 a.m. today at Wayne Hospital.
- A Darke Co. native, Mrs. Neff was a daughter of the late Ed and Lisa (Clay) Sothoron. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and retired after 15 years from Hobart's in Greenville.
- Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Thorp of Coldwater and Mrs. Richard (Joann) Robbins of Greenville; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Bess) Runion of Sun City, Ariz. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Corliss Dininger, in 1978; her second husband, John Neff, in 1980; a son Robert; one sister, Virginia; two half-brothers, Arthur and Martin Kitson; and a half-sister, Rebecca Kitson Myers.
- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday [8/3] at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Donald Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.
- Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the cancer society. (Greenville Daily Advocate, Reported 1984.08.01)

Elizabeth Somervell Sothoron Long, 85, of Rose Valley, a longtime resident of Delaware Co., died Tuesday at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media.
- Mrs. Long was born in Baltimore and attended Bryn Mawr School there. She lived in Rose Valley for 30 years and was formerly of Chester.
- She was a member of the Providence Garden Club. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Colonial Dames of America.
- She was the wife of the late F. Farwell Long, an executive with the American Viscose Co. in Chester, and the mother of the late Garretta Carlin, Air Force Capt. John H.S. Long, and Frederick Farwell Long 3d.
- She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Barton; six grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren.
- The memorial service was scheduled for Friday at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Swarthmore. Interment was private.
- Memorial contributions may be sent to the Trinity Episcopal Church, Chester Road and College Avenue, Swarthmore, or the Providence Garden Club Endowment Fund.
