He & his wife were separated when their daughter was still very young. I don't know if they ever got a formal divorce, although I have vague recollections of Flora having married someone else. The daughter went with her mother, and was never very close to her father. (WHS* - personal knowledge)

Person who would always know his address was Mrs. L.K. Sothoorn. Employed at Flint Hill, Rappahannock Co., VA. Described as White, 5' 9" tall, 180 pounds, Brown eyes, Brown hair, Light complexion. Deed of 18 Sept 1947 between James W. Fletcher, Special Commissioner for Rappahannock Circuit Court, in Chancery cause pending therein in style of Federal Land Bank of Baltimore, v. James M. Lillard, Sheriff of Rappahannock Co, and as such Administrator d.b.n. c.t.s. of Estate of Warren A. Haddox, dec'd et al; and Dr. Lyle J. Millan III of Baltimore, MD. Pursuant to Court decree of 27 Jan 1947, Fletcher named Special Commissioner & directed to sell lands unless defendants redeem by payment within 30 days. Having not been redeemed, was sold by auction at Washington, Rappahannock Co., VA on 5 Apr 1947 to highest bidder, Dr. Lyle J. Millan III, for $21,450. Lands conveyed to Millan: "A certain tract or parcel of land in Wakefield Magisterial District, Rappahannock County, Virginia, containing 475 acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of P.B. Eastham, W.A. Jordan's estate, J.A. Fletcher, W.P. Slaughter and others, being the same lands that were acquired by said Warren A. Haddox, as one of the heirs of E. Clifton Haddox, deceased, and by deed from W.G. Davis et al., deed from F.P. Carter, Commissioner, and two deeds from Norbert R. Haddox and wife, recorded in the Clerk's Office of said County, in Deed Book 26, at page 397; Deed Book W, at page 227; Deed Book V, at page 515; and Deed Book 28, at page 396 respectively, and that were acquired by said L. Kate Sothoron, as one of the heirs of said Clinton B. Haddox and as one of the heirs of said E. Clifton Haddox and by said deed from Norbert R. Haddox and wife, recorded in Deed Book V, page 515, and by said Warren A. Haddox and L. Kate Sothoron, and by deed from Horace B. Haddox and wife, which last mentioned deed has been admitted to record in the Clerk's Office of said County. Reference is hereby made to a will of Warren A. Haddox, dated May 18, 1917, and duly probated on October 31, 1922, in the aforesaid Clerk's Office, in Will Book H, at page 415. Reference is also made to the fact that L. Kate Sothoron died intestate on the 30th of December, 1942, leaving as her sole heirs, a son, Warren H. Sothoron, and a son, G.M. Sothoron.

Upon the death of my "Uncle Mort," the Haddox lands were acquired by Lyle J. Millan on the basis of an unsatisfied mortgage. Part was sold off and the majority (with buildings) sold to a Col. Holmes, USMC (retired). The farm, known theretofore as "Hillsboro," was renamed. (WHS* - personal knowledge)

George Mortimer Sothoron, Jr. A white male farmer, died at 12:20 A.M. on 3 June 1949, at 518 Cathedral St., Baltimore, MD. He had been in Baltimore for 3 days; his usual residence was Flint Hill Rural, Rupp'k Co., Virginia. He was 56 years old, born 2/5/1893 in Washington, D.C. to George Mortimer Sothoron, Sr. & Limmie Katherine Haddox. He was never in the Armed Forces & had no Social Security Number. Informant was W. H. Sothoron of Marriottsville, Md.
- Cause of death was Coronary thrombosis of 1 yr. duration, due to Hypertension of 4 yrs. duration. Certification was by George E. Shannon, M.D., 820 Medial Arts Bldg., who attended him from 5/31/49 to day of death, last seeing him alive on day of death.
- Removal was made by Harry H. Witzke, 4101 Edmondson Ave., to Front Royal, Va., for burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery. (Death Certificate #A9172)

George Mortimer Sothoron III died at the office/home of Lyle J. Millan, M.D., urologist and close family friend. He was to have prostate surgery and, according to the verbal statements of Drs. Millan & Shannon (Shannon was assisting) to the family, he got a "bad batch of local anesthetic,” and died therefrom. There was no postmortem exam. (WHS* - personal knowledge)

George Mortimer Sothoron died on 3 June 1949. He was buried next to his mother, Linnia K. Sothoron. There is no grave marker. (Burial Record, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, VA)
