Overton Lewis [Male] b. ABT 1773 - d. AFT AUG 1810
Person ID: 4988
** From Jones(1)*
Lewis Overton, probably born by or about 1773 [to Obediah Overton & presumably Frances]; married Sarah Gibbs in Madison County on 9 January 1794.52 Lewis is included on a list of the children of Obediah Overton, as told by a granddaughter of Obediah to her younger relatives.53 He paid personal-property taxes in Madison County between 1793 and 1809. On 11 November of the latter year, he sold his Madison land and left the county soon after.54 The only subsequent reference to him in that locale is his appearance as a purchaser at the estate sale of his father-in-law Francis Gibbs on 29 August 1810.55 He may have been the Lewis Overton who is enumerated in the federal census of Shelby County, Kentucky, in 1820.56

Overton Dudley [Male] b. BEF 1779 - d. BEF 6 MAY 1811
Person ID: 4990
** From Jones(1)*
Dudley Overton, presumably born before 1779 [to Obediah Overton & presumably Frances], because he was a landowner in 1800 (but possibly born before 1773, since he witnessed the marriage of his brother Lewis in 1794). Dudley paid personal-property taxes in Madison County during the years 1800 and 1801, then again in 1803-04. On 29 July 1801, Obediah and Ellender Overton executed a deed of gift to Dudley for 169 acres, a deed in which they called him "their son"57 —although the date of Obediah's marriage to Ellender suggests the probability that Dudley was her stepson.
After 1804, Dudley has not been found in the courthouse records or tax books for Madison, Spotsylvania, Culpeper, or Orange counties. There is a strong likelihood that he shared a residence with Obediah and Ellender and that he was the tithable charged to the elderly Obediah in those years. On 11 November 1809 (together with one Nancy H. Overton whose identity is yet unknown), Dudley witnessed a Madison County deed executed by Richard Vernon, Lewis Overton, and Sarah Overton.58 His will, dated 27 December 1810 and ordered recorded in Spotsylvania on 6 May 1811, names only one heir, his brother Willis Overton.59

From Cass Johnson, 7/20/2003:
Leonard Sr. (Revolutionary War) was married twice. His first marriage pruduced Leonard Jr. who migrated to TN [NOTE: I believe this to be wrong--I believe "Sr." & "Jr" are one in the same - WHS*]. His second marriage to Mary Burgess procuced two children. Edward Burgess and William Clark. Edward Burgass Clark migrated to Smith Co., TN, married there and then moved to Mississippi. I am in contact with on of his descendants who still lives in the same area. The other son, William, remained in Pittsylvania Co.
