Widow of District Supreme Court Judge
Had Lived With Niece.
- Baltimore, April 10--Mrs. Mary Wickliffe Merrick, widow of Judge William Merrick, of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, died suddenly this morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. W.P.E. Wyse, at Pikesville.
- Mrs. Merrick, who was in her ninety-ninth year, came of one of the famous old Kentucky families. She had been in remarkably good health, for a person of her years, and despite the fact that she had grown quite feeble, she had not been confined to her bed.
- This morning she got up at her usual hour, and seemed to be quite as well as when she retired. She was suddenly stricken, however, with a sinking spell, and died within a few minutes.
- She lived for a long time in Washington, and was an active figure in the stirring events resulting from the civil war. (Washington Post :21, Reported 11 April 1915)
