Hi,
I don't find a Sothoron connection either. His mother was Mary Priscilla Johnson, and it's not through that line. It could be via his father, Enoch Richard Evans for whom I don't have parents. He was here in 1850, his name was given as Richard Evans and he and Priscilla and their children were living next door to Mary Priscilla's father and family in the 3rd District.
Best bet for his parents were Edward Evans who married Elizabeth Brown, 2/1/1817. In 1840, there's only one Evans living in the 3rd District and it's Elizabeth Evans. Living with her is one male, 15-20 which fits Enoch Richard who would have been 17 at the time. I've been able to rule out the other males with the surname Evans who had a wife named Elizabeth. In addition, Edward Evans' father was Richard Evans for whom he was probably named. His mother was Jane Greenwell. Edward Evans was dead by 1833, so Elizabeth would have turned up in the next census as head of household. Don't know the parents of Elizabeth Brown.

Do you have anything on John Sothoron Evans? He appears in the 1860 Census as the eldest child of Enoch R. Evans (b. abt 1823) & Mary P. (b. abt 1820) in Dist. 6, & the family stays in that area for the next few census periods. The only MD-born Enoch Evans I see in 1850 is in Ohio with others of the Evans family. I'm not seeing a Sothoron connection.

I think I've got it figured out. Edward Evans' wife was Elizabeth Brown, but she was a widow. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Stone and she married first, Leonard Brown (d. 1816) and then Edward Evans.
Elizabeth Stone was the daughter of Enoch Stone and Monica Goldsborough. That's how Enoch Richard Evans got his name--from his paternal and maternal grandfathers.
