In a family history booklet dated 1921, written by Francis B. Culver of Baltimore, Maryland and given to Margaret Frances Compton (1848-1932), a daughter of Thomas Alexander Compton (1802-1861), a tenth child is listed - Mary, born 1782, who married John Tobin. This corresponds with information on a webpage by Ric Tobin. Apparently my aunt inadvertently left out some info when copying information from this source in the 1930's. [Dannie Weatherly] I have not seen this family booklet nor have I been able to get a response from Dannie Weatherly about it.
The lawsuit cited above is very important as it shows the siblings of William Clarke Compton. As you'll note, he had a brother named John, born ca 1730, 16 years after the death of John Compton, Jr. Now, John Compton, Jr. did have children, but only three and I have not yet identified them. John Compton, Sr. administered his son's estate.
