NORFOLK - Samuel George Leonard Hitch III, a native of Norfolk, passed away in Richmond, Va., June 17, 2001, at 83 years old.
- A 1940 graduate of Virginia Tech, he is survived by his wife, Ann Gough Hitch; two daughters, Nancy H. Briggs and husband Jay of Crozier, Va., and Betsy H. Dilley and husband Larry of Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter, Kathryn Sothoron Tichacek; and five step grandchildren.
- Mr. Hitch retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., after 38 years as an engineer. He and Mrs. Hitch enjoyed 20 years in Pine Knoll Shores, N.C., before moving to Midlothian, Va., five years ago. He was a good friend to so many.
